FAQs

What is the RAF FIVE™ morning routine?

In the Morning:

1. Acne Cleanser: Wet face, then squeeze out a dime or quarter size amount and apply to face. Use exfoliating brush in a gentle, circular motion all around face and other areas with acne, avoiding eye area. Rinse thoroughly with water.

2. Acne Spot Treatment: After cleansing face, roll on to cover the affected areas with a thin layer. To avoid drying of the skin, start with one application daily and then gradually increase to 2-3 times daily, if needed. If drying or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day.

3. Acne Day Moisturizer: Apply liberally onto cleansed skin (and on top of Spot Treatment) and spread evenly 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply if needed throughout the day.

What is CBD Isolate?

CBD isolate is a pure form of CBD, which is a chemical compound present in the cannabis plant. Unlike full-spectrum CBD products, CBD isolate does not contain any THC — the psychoactive component of cannabis. Most other CBD products contain at least a small percentage of THC. For more information on CBD check out Green Babble

What is Salicylic Acid?

Salicylic Acid is one of only three FDA approved over the counter drugs to fight acne.  Salicylic acid works to treat acne by unclogging blocked pores. It does this by breaking down the bonds between dead skin cells so that they can release from the pore more easily, and breaking down oils, such as sebum. Salicylic acid also decreases the skin's sebum production, leading to fewer breakouts.

Why don’t we use Benzoyl Peroxide?

Benzoyl peroxide may not be safe for sensitive skin and is more drying than salicylic acid, so it can lead to more severe irritation. In addition to skin irritation, benzoyl peroxide can bleach out anything it touches, like bedding and towels.

What is the difference between mineral sunscreen and chemical sunscreen?

We’re glad you asked and we’re here for it! Our sunscreen, KICK OFF, is a mineral sunscreen. That means it is a natural sunscreen as opposed to a chemical sunscreen.  We use the only FDA-approved mineral sunscreen ingredients: zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. These ingredients form a barrier on the surface of the skin that helps reflect UV rays away from the skin. These physical sunscreen filters are ideal for both daily and prolonged, intense sun exposure because of their broad spectrum. Your skin doesn’t absorb them in the same way as a chemical sunscreen.

How long will it take to see results?

Results may vary but we have seen reduction in redness, breakouts and irritation and an increase in smoothness and evenness within 7 days (check out our IT WORKS page). With continued use, results get even better.

How long should I use the products?

So many people think that when their acne is clear, they can stop using their acne products. But then, their skin breaks out again. The key to treating acne is to find products that you like and want to use on a daily basis to prevent new pimples from coming.   So keep your skin clear for a while, then you can try to wean yourself off the products. But if your acne comes back, get right back on them for the following months.

Do I have to use the whole product line or can I just use one or a few products?

For best results we suggested you use the entire product line. We understand that some individuals may want to incorporate some products into their current skin care routine. There is no best product for this - just picking the best one to round out your current routine. That being said - as a product line developed with a dermatologist - everyone should be wearing an SPF daily.

What are the other uses for your products (i.e. body acne, hormonal acne, etc)?

You will get the best results when you use the entire regimen, so keep that in mind. The great news is that you can use our products for body acne! In fact, we learned that it was of great benefit to breakouts on the chest and back for one of our study participants. If you get hormonal acne, you’re in luck! Our SPOT ON roll on acne treatment and CLEAR THE WAY pads are here for you. Use as directed on the box to clear out those spots that show up whenever, wherever!
